Andrea Corr’s Signed Shoes Raise £2,350 in Step Into MyShoes Celebrity Auction.

Freddie Ljungberg’s signed football boots sell for £601 while Brian Adam’s signed shoes sell for £480.

A single pair of signed high heeled shoes donated by Andrea Corr of Irish group, The Corrs, have been sold for a whopping £2,350 in the MyShoes Campaign To Fight MS Step into MyShoes Celebrity Shoe auction to aid younger people with MS. Arsenal Midfielder, Freddie Ljungberg’s signed football boots sold for £601 while pop star Bryan Adam’s shoes sold for £480 in the eBay auction which ended late on the 23rd of February. Even Claudia Schiffer’s well loved and worn trainers raised £143 towards the cause. In total, the Celebrity Shoe auction raised over £6,500, all of which will go to the MyShoes Campaign To Fight MS which raises funds for the UK’s two leading MS charities, the MS Society and the MS Trust.

Thirty eight pairs of shoes were auctioned to raise awareness that contrary to public perception, MS is diagnosed mainly in younger people, particularly women. In fact MS affects three women to one man. One in every five hundred women can expect to receive a diagnosis of MS. Besides celebrities from the worlds of film, TV, art, music and sport, many models, such as Laura Bailey, Jodie Kidd and Vivian Solari donated their shoes. Also many of the world’s top shoe designers including Alexander McQueen, Jimmy Choo, Emma Hope, Paul Smith, Patrick Louboutin and Patrick Cox donated shoes from their collections. A full list can be seen at the end of this press release.

About MyShoes

The MyShoes Campaign To Fight MS is a new nationwide initiative that aims to raise both funds for, and awareness of, Multiple Sclerosis issues. Important issues that need highlighting are:

- 50 new cases of Multiple Sclerosis are diagnosed each week mainly in young people between the ages of 25 and 40.

- more women than men are diagnosed with MS at a rate of 33 to 1

- there are 85,000 people with Multiple Sclerosis patients in the UK alone

- Multiple Sclerosis is still incurable

- funding new nursing programmes will support those with MS

The MyShoes Campaign to Fight MS uses shoes and shoe related imagery to draw attention to the fact that, contrary to public perception, young women are most likely to be diagnosed with MS. MS often leaves sufferers people affected unable to balance well or walk far.

All funds raised by the MyShoes Campaign to Fight MS goes to the two major charities dedicated to helping those with MS in the United Kingdom: The MS Society and The MS Trust.

The MyShoes Campaign to Fight MS is involved in a number of other awareness and fund raising activities. Companies associated with the design, manufacture and sale of shoes help in a number of ways. The principal way is to nominate a shoe design from their forthcoming season and contribute a set amount – such as £5 – per pair sold to the MyShoes Campaign to Fight MS. MyShoes provides donors with leaflets and point of sale material.

To date over 300 retail outlets across the UK have lent their support including Evans, feet inc, Faith, Hobbs, Office, Robert Clergerie and Shoon.

The MyShoes Campaign to Fight MS will also be releasing a range of award winning, funny and stylish greetings cards featuring shoes in March 2005, which will be sold nationwide. A further press release will follow prior to the launch.
